  • Myth: I've heard that R.O.Writer Shop Management Software is only for large shops.

  • Fact: It's true that a lot of large shops do use R.O.Writer Shop Management Software. It's also true that a lot of these large shops  were small shops before they started using R.O.Writer.   • Myth: I've heard that R.O.Writer is expensive!

  • Fact 1:  Compared to what? Are you using a subscription (rental based) Management Program? In most cases R.O.Writer is less expensive and produces much more profit and point of sale productivity.   • Question: Can you use a "Bar Code Scanner" with R.O.Writer?

  • Fact: Yes you can. With a Bar Code Scanner" you can start a repair order by scanning the VIN or a preferred customer card, add parts and labor to it and virtually never touch the keyboard or mouse.   • Question: Can you eMail "Repair Orders and Estimates" in R.O.Writer?

  • Fact: Yes you can, R.O.Writer includes more than several eMail features. You can even eMail your customer a reminder of their next appointment when you set the appointment and a day before their next appointment along with service reminders and target marketing.


  • Question: Can you send text messages to customers in R.O.Writer?

  • Fact: Yes you can, you can send a text message right from the Repair Order or Estimate.


  • Question: Does R.O.Writer use "Matrix" pricing for parts mark up?

  • Fact: Yes would be the short answer. Matrix Pricing is one of the pricing methods that R.O.Writer uses. R.O.Writer uses both Matrix Pricing and "Linear Pricing" for parts and labor markup. One of the best features of "Linear Pricing" is that it takes the stair step disadvantage away and replaces it with a infinite smooth slope. This also can be set-up by Supplier and/or Parts Department for parts. 


  • Question: Will R.O.Writer Connect to my "Online Part Suppliers"?

  • Fact: Yes, in most cases you will be able to connect and order parts from most of your aftermarket online parts suppliers directly from the repair order. Parts Ordering Demo Link.


  • Question: Does R.O.Writer Have a Labor Matrix?

  • Fact: Yes, you can setup and use R.O.Writer's "Smart Labor" Option and create a Labor Matrix' in R.O.Writer, you can even set the Matrix' to exclude individual Labor Categories and Operations.   • Fact: Yes, we use a program called The Back Office Accounting Link to reconcile and export sales data to more than several accounting programs including QuickBooks.   • Question: Can you convert the data from my existing management software?

  • Question: How long has R.O.Writer been on the Market?

  • Fact: R.O.Writer started helping shops become more productive and profitable for the last 22 years. R.O.Writer introduced it's DOS product in 1989 then moved to the Windows platform in 1996. R.O.Writer is updated with enhancements several time a year and is now currently on it's 25th version of it's windows product.


  • Question: What are the computer and operating system specifications for R.O.Writer?

  • Answer: PASS R.O.Writer Specifications pdf. R.O.Writer is compatible with Windows 7. We "will not" install R.O.Writer on Windows Vista or any Windows "Home" editions. PASS recommends Windows 7 Pro or XP Pro if your going to be using R.O.Writer on a Small network, 5 computers or less. For a single computer installation we will install on Windows 7 Home edition.
